On the never ending quest to staying on a steady path of weight loss, I have to admit to another fail. I can’t say that I haven’t fallen off the wagon a time or two too many, but I thought I could always depend on one thing to keep it totally 100% with me. My Scale!!
I would have never thought it would lie to me, but like they say, “you get what you pay for”. Apparently, the scale is off a bit and I thought it was funny that I could never get the same reading any two times. Even a foot or two to the left or right will give me different readings. I knew that I may have gained a few pounds, but damn!! Being that I work at a Hospital, I will now use the scale there, because they’re more reliable and precise. Also, being that I wear the same uniform everyday (well not the same actual outfit), I’ll post with that weight, even though I’m weighted with clothes and shoes.
Food
This is my mortal enemy. I’m trying to do better, but it’s hard until recently. A few weeks back, while trolling the aisles of the local Wally world, I came across these inexpensive bags of frozen Tilapia Fillets($10 for 4lbs). So, I bought a bag ’cause I know the wife likes fish. Naturally, she was happy when she saw the bag in the fridge at home and I was hoping she would reward me with a fish fry. Wrong! On the particular day that she was to make the fish, she decided to do something new.
Mind you, I don’t like new things. I’m not a fish person except if it’s fried in between two slices of bread w/ tartar sauce. So, she decides to not fry, but to cook the fish in a pan with nothing but olive oil and garlic seasoning and some other green stuff she sprinkled on it. Oh well, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Damn, that fish was good. I mean, it was so good, I couldn’t get enough. The next time I went to Walmart, we bought like, 4 bags. I’ve even given up red meat and chicken (except for yesterday). As soon as I finish this post, I’m hittin” up the Talapia. I’m even making it myself and cooking is not my thing. I could eat that stuff everyday and the best thing about it, it’s good for you!! Low in fat, sodium, no carbs and high in protein. I think my wife is a little over it, but I’m gonna ride this baby ’til the wheels fall off!!
I’ve been in the gym consistently for the last 2 weeks, so I hope to keep this going along with eating better.
I’ve actually been feeling a lot stronger. I’m doing reps and maxing out at poundage not reached in years. We’ll see how long I stick to this………….

Hello… you just left a comment on my blog so I thought I would take a trip over to visit yours.
The fish sounds FANTASTIC. I don’t make a lot of fish just because I lack confidence in cooking it. Anyways, take care. I’ll come back to pay your blog a visit in the future!
Thanks Lynne for stopping by. I’ll be following you also. The fish is sooo easy and cooks really fast. You can’t go wrong.
I may have to try your tilapia recipe. Like yourself, it’s only good fried. I’m stubborn with grilled or sauteed fish, even though I know it must be better for me.
Scales are stoooopid. Nuff said.
I’m glad you’ve discovered that tilapia isn’t horrible minus the grease and tartar sauce. I wanna know what this green stuff sprinkled over the fish is: parsley or cilantro maybe? It sounds wonderful!
Jeremy, you gotta try it. I don’t know about other fish, but this is the bomb!
Good for you Mike sticking it out with the fish. I am on a raw diet still but Tilapia is great! If you remember I did a video on cooking lemon pepper Tilapia so you know I really love the stuff. Keep up the healthy eating man! Cool post
Haha, Erin it’s Cilantro.
Glad it turned out good, she could have suggested sushi and despite what Lynne Garcia says, that never turns out good.
Yeah, I know. I really can’t get into sushi with the seaweed and raw fish stuff, urgh…
Yo Mike,
Scales suck…especially when they don’t cooperate. Great choices on the tilapia. I sure wish I liked fish.
It wasn’t easy Al. It took some getting used to….
